Campaign for British Art Market Federation
Thursday, July 15, 2010
Adrian Flook and Ed Orlebar are working on a public affairs and public relations project for the British Art Market Federation reporting to the Chairman, Anthony Browne, to highlight the negative impact of extending ‘droit de suite’ an EU-sponsored levy and sometimes known as Artists Resale Rights. According to a recent academic study the British art market directly employs 60,000, has a turnover of nearly £8bn and contributes almost a £1bn in taxes. The BAMF fears that including all artists who died up to 70 years ago will damage the UK’s pre-eminence as Europe’s leading contemporary art market.
